About

Welcome to My Adventures with MS, a blog that I created to share my experience with multiple sclerosis.

My name is Andrea and I am 38 years old. I live in Whitehorse, Yukon. For anyone needing to google that, please do as it is quite a beautiful place. Just in case you don’t know where that is and aren’t going to bother checking – It’s right beside Alaska but a Territory in Canada.

I had my first episode on April 12, 2020. I had no idea what was going on and was concerned that I contracted Covid-19. I woke up on Easter Sunday and was having difficulty seeing. I could see perfectly if I closed either eye but trying to use both eyes would get double vision. I eventually went to the ER to have a Doctor check me out and they completed a cat scan and told me they saw ‘something new’. After having an MRI done a week or so later, I was put in touch with an MS specialist and given 25 steroid pills to take every day for 3 days. Although undiagnosed, the thought was that I had experienced an MS incident. A few weeks later my vision returned completely.

Fast forward 9 months, another look at my brain confirmed it and I was diagnosed with Remitting Relapsing MS on January 26, 2021.
